Affordable Housing

Parkside is a mixed-use development including 36 affordable apartments and the offices of Sunflower Kids and Bluegrass Domestic Violence.  The development is located in Gardenside on the property of the former Cross Keys YWCA.  The project was developed by Holly Wiedemann of AU Associates.  The project was made possible by an award of housing tax credits and affordable housing trust funds from the Kentucky Housing Corporation and the City of Lexington HOME Funds.  It is a great example of urban infill.  You can read more articles on the project here and here and you can watch my Council Comments on the project here for an interesting and informative discussion of tax credits and the financing of affordable housing projects.  Many thanks to Holly for the contributions she makes to our community through her commitment and her passion for creating affordable housing.
