Fresh Food is coming to the Government Center!

Good news!  Starting in May, the Lexington Farmer’s Market will have a stand in the lobby of the Government Center selling fresh fruits and vegetables to Government employees.  The details are being hammered out but a resolution should come before Council in the next few weeks.  Healthy local food is part of the Government’s Wellness initiative and supports local agricultural.  It is clearly a win-win!

Thanks to ProgressLexington for their grant and the Local Food Percolator for their imagination, both of which were instrumental in initiating  this collaborative effort with Urban County Government.  Thanks also to my aide, Leah Boggs, and Mayoral Aide Lori Houlihan for spearheading this effort within LFUCG and working out all the details.
