Legacy Trail Update: Phases 3A and 3B

Phase 3A

Phase 3A of the Legacy Trail, from the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden, (IMMAG), to 3rd and Jefferson Streets is funded and improvements should be complete by the end of 2011.  Final release of funds, pending an archeological survey of the IMMAG, is expected shortly.

Phase 3B

Phase 3B of the Legacy Trail goes from 3rd and Jefferson Streets to the Northside YMCA. I had a very productive meeting last week with Mayor Gray, 1st District Council Member Ford, and Keith Lovan from Engineering regarding this phase of the Trail. Renewed attention to right-of-way issues and railroad crossing issues should move planning for this leg of the Trail forward.  The city has received grant money for needed improvements and has until the end of 2012 to use it.
