The Sky is the Limit for Urban Farmers in New York City

The New York City Council has just passed two new ordinances to encourage urban farming.  The first bill supports the construction of rooftop greenhouses by stating that they will not be considered a separate story and will be exempted from height limits if they fall under certain guidelines.  The second bill requires the city to maintain a database of unused spaces in order to transform them for urban farm use.  You can read more about the new laws here.  This is a small way that city government can support local food efforts.
