Which Way for Two-way Streets?

Recently I was in an LFUCG meeting about options for changing some of downtown Lexington’s one-way streets back into two-way streets. The last comprehensive report about the potential impact of these changes was done in 2007 in conjunction with the Downtown Master Plan.  Usually referred to as the Entran Report, its full title is: Downtown Lexington Transportation Analysis Final Report, April 2007 – One-Way to Two-Way Operation Conversion Study.  While the authors of the report state clearly that the report makes no recommendations about possible conversions, they do provide useful projections of impact under a number of likely scenarios. The report provides useful information that will be an important part of the decisions to be made about streetscapes, traffic, economic development, and the overall look and feel–and appeal– of downtown Lexington.
